ABOUT THE HARDWOODS WE USE:

Walnut – The wood of black walnut is dark, hard, dense, and close-grained. Woodworkers value it for its strength, texture, and color. It polishes to an extremely smooth finish.

Oak – Compared to other wood species, oak is quite dense, making it strong, heavy and durable. Oak is also remarkably water, insect and fungi resistant.

Padauk – is a moderately hard wood with a striking, bright orange color. It is extremely durable and rot resistant. General Workability: Padauk is generally easy to work with and cut. It is an excellent choice for woodturning and finishes well.

Maple – Maple’s density and durability are among the highest for American hardwoods.

Hickory – The wood is well-known for its very good strength and shock resistance and also has excellent steam-bending properties. It is extremely tough and resilient, quite hard, but only moderately heavy.

Purple Heart – True to its name, Purpleheart wood boasts a rich, violet-purple color. It also has a fine even texture and is very hard, dense, and durable.
